On October 25th, 2025 at 3:50 pm, heaven gained another angel.
Raymond Eugene Alderman, born on New Year's eve 1938, joined his wife, his parents and 12 of his 13 siblings with Jesus.
Ray was born #13 of 14 in Burwell, Nebraska. He passed away at his home of 52 years in Woodland, WA holding his granddaughters hand.
Ray worked for Sherman Machine now USNR for 32 years. He was in the Cowlitz County sheriff reserve force for about 14 years as well as WPD reserves for a time. Ray also, following a family tradition was a USMC veteran.
If you were a member of the Moose Lodge in Woodland anytime since it started here, you would know Ray and Pat Alderman. They were charter members since the opening. Maybe you were lucky enough to be coached by Ray during the 60's, 70's and 80's after he helped to start Lewis River Little League in 1963? He loved being a part of the JC's and put on a heck of a fireworks show over horseshoe lake. Ray was a generous giving person, always willing to help where needed. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and taught his son's to love the outdoors.
Thank you to all the people who have reached out sharing stories, especially how they remember his smile. He was a generally happy guy and everyone knew it. Ray loved everyone but he loved his family most of all. He is survived by a sister, Dot. Three children; Skip, Tina and Aaron (married to Emily). 8 grandchildren and a whole bunch of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The last few weeks Ray shared a ton about his awesome childhood. Growing up on a farm, learning from his dad, getting into trouble with his closest brothers and building the strong work ethics he had his whole adult life.
Everyone who knew him loved him and he will be surely missed.
