In loving memory of Joan May Fantz Hackathorn, our beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend.
She was born Dec. 10, 1932, in Portland, Ore., to Lillian May Anderson Fantz and Charles William Fantz. She graduated from Silverton High School in 1950.
On Jan. 26, 1952, she married James Clarence Hackathorn in San Francisco, Calif. They eventually settled in Portland, Ore., in 1954 where they raised their four children. After retirement they moved to Rainier, Ore. Joan was active in the Rainier United Methodist Church and Rainier Senior Center.
She is survived by a daughter, Sylvia J.; sons, Thomas D., Stanley C., and Robert J.; brothers Dennis V. Fantz, Donald E. Fantz, and Roger H. Fantz; four granddaughters, three grandsons, one great-granddaughter; four great-grandsons, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jim, her parents, a brother James W. Fantz, and her stepmother Alice Fantz.
