Danniel Lee Walck

December 31, 1941 — January 30, 2021

Danniel Lee Walck passed away in the very early hours on Saturday January 30th 2021 at home with his loving wife at his side. Dan was 79 years old

He was born on December 31st 1941 in Vancouver Washington to William and Doris Walck at the Saint Joseph’s Hospital.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Dick and leaves behind his sisters Judy Swanson and Sandy Smith also his Goddaughter Emily. Dan also leaves his wife, best friend, partner in mischief and favorite hiking companion Pat Walck (Wellman).

Dan attended Battle Ground High School where he enjoyed and excelled in woodworking. Dan was a very social and participated many school activities and graduated with his class in 1960.

Directly after high school he was proud to serve in the United State Air Force where he served with distinction working with explosive ordnance from 1960 to 1964 He attended his ordnance training Lowery AFB in Colorado.

Throughout his working career he gravitated to work where meticulous attention to detail was required. He loved the connection between intricate mechanical devices and large scale industrial manufacturing and it was at companies like Hyster and Boeing where he honed his craft mastering controlling tolerances and precision in manufacturing.

Dan seemed a bit gruff at times but is was usually cover to hide his silly side until he was ready to let us in on his gag. He had an amazing ability to make children smile. Often while making a very serious face there would be a twinkle in his eye, children would see right though and delight knowing the game was afoot. With Dan, there was always a game afoot.

He had a wonderful way with animals. When Dan was a young man, goose who had lost its mate decided to bond with Dan. The goose preferred to sit on his shoulder so as to keep a close watch on him. Outwardly Dan was a bit embarrassed by the attention but he loved animals too much to not appreciate the gift this wild animal offered him.

It would be an oversight to not mention how generous Dan was. He took pleasure in tipping too much, it truly made him happy to do something to help someone, anyone actually, anyone who needed help. Family, friends and even strangers participated in Dan finding joy in acts kindness. The sharing of a moment, a smile or a laugh was one of his greats joys. A big tip here, a lawnmower there, whatever was needed, Dan was able and more than willing to help where he could and he was always humbled and grateful for opportunity to help.

Dan has left us, but he left us all better for knowing him. He did his best to lift us all. He shared his kind spirt with his loved ones and every creature he shared his days with. And in the end what more could a man want but to leave this world better than you found it. Dans legacy is love, kindness and generosity. He lived his life well, with precision, kindness and generosity. He made ours a better world with an abiding joyful love for life
